Two different teams, two different styles.

September 19, the New England Patriots walked in to New Meadowlands Stadium and got punched in the mouth. Yesterday, in Foxboro, the Patriots returned the favor and embarrassed the Jets 45-3.

This monster game was a mismatch in coaching and quarterbacking.

The Jets, in what has become typical Jets fashion, talked and talked and talked all season long and all week long. The Patriots responded with a tremendous victory - and a young, inconsistent New England defense rose to the challenge, in a huge game and in a huge way. Mark Sanchez is a good NFL quarterback. Sanchez is not terrible, although we will hear a lot of that after this performance. It wasn't an awful quarterback or an awful team that prevented the Jets from scoring, it was a solid New England defense playing and hitting the way the Jets defense was suppose to. Bend but don't break, the Patriots way. They were playing like Tedy Bruschi was still out there on the field and not being honored as a former player instead.

By winning, the Patriots (10-2) have the No. 1 seed in the conference in their grasp. The Jets (9-3) could end up having to come to New England again on the road to the Super Bowl. Patriots owner Robert Kraft called it the biggest regular season game since he purchased the franchise.

Brady threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns while delivering his seventh consecutive start without an interception. Brady moved into 13th place all-time with 252 TD passes; he has thrown for 27 TDs and been intercepted only four times as the three-time Super Bowl winner makes a strong case for his second league MVP award. The Patriots offense, without Randy Moss, scored at will at times on the vaunted Jets defense. New York couldn't produce a pass rush and its blitzes were fruitless most of the night.

Brady on his offensive lineman, "They played great. They always play great. I think I certainly don't take those guys for granted. They work so hard, they take so much pride and they're so well coached. We do a lot of stuff with our offensive line in terms of communication and they handle everything so well, so it was a good night for us."

5-foot-8 Danny Woodhead, caught four passes for 104 yards. Considering he had been cut this year by the Jets, that had to feel good.

“We won the game and anytime you win the game, that is the most important thing,” Woodhead said.

Hey Revis, that's how you should handle yourself after a big performance/win; Rex, take notes.

New England's 32nd-ranked pass defense intercepted three of Sanchez's passes, one by three different players - Sanders, Spikes, and rookie corner Devin McCorty. Them and the rest of the defense held the Jets to 3 points and 301 total yards on offensive and they out sacked the Jets 3 to 1. The Patriots put on a show of force against the Jets, a team easy to hate and force you to bring your A game. The defense is still the question, the one chink in the Patriots armor, they answered the questions for one game and if anybody can keep the momentum train rolling, it's Belichick.

“I came in to kick his butt and he kicked mine,” Rex Ryan said, taking his licking like a man.

You said it best Rex, you said it best.

The Patriots and Belichick just dutifully noted that they executed the game plan well, and people wonder why we love Belichick.

Hope you and your team enjoyed the cold Rex, it's only going to get worse come play off time - Welcome to Massachusetts.
