Mr. Steinbrenner RIP.

On July 13, 2010, on the morning of the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, George Steinbrenner died of a massive heart attack at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He was 80 years old.

As a Red Sox fan, George Steinbrenner was often public enemy number 1 for me. I often criticized and disparaged the man. But its undeniable the immense effect he had on the game of Baseball, the city of New York, and the NY Yankees.

The most admirable thing about Steinbrenner was his desire to win. He craved world series titles and would put his money and name on the line in pursuit of those championships. In todays sports world, for most teams at least, the profit margin matters far more than the hardware. Not with Steinbrenner.

During Steinbrenner's ownership from 1973 to his death, the longest in club history, the Yankees earned 11 pennants and 7 World Series titles.

This isn't the day or the place to air grievances. Instead, forget about the transgressions, forget about the hate most people have developed for the yankess. Today, honor the man for the qualities that deserved our respect.

RIP George Steinbrenner.

Enough with Queen LeBron

OK here is the deal the Queen is dead! On with our beloved Celtics. Lets recap for those who haven't been able to wade through the Queen's ordeal. The Celtics resigned Pierce, Allan and acquired Jermain O'Neil for 2 years! Lets put this in perspective we needed someone to fill in for Perkins we got that and more from O'Neil. Thank GOD we didn't acquire the other O'Neil who would slow us down on our fast break. Pierce's deal is for 4 year and Allan is 2 years he might get another 2 years after this is done but don't think so. After KG and Allan's contracts are done in 2 years you will see a rebuild where Peirce will be passing the torch to Rondo. Rondo is the future of the Celtics like it or not if not please explain yourself. Yes I know he needs to get better outside and at the line but who better to set it up NO ONE! Face it he did a fantastic job in the playoffs this year we didn't lose because of Rondo we lost because we ran out of gas without Perk. Wallace did the best he could in the situation he was in and gave it his all. I am not knocking Wallace but he isn't Perk he is a good compliment to Perk and I heard a rumor that Wallace might not retire which would mean one thing the road to the finals HAS to come through Boston! So KMA Queen!!!! Dan Gilbert you won't win it in the next 2 years so you can start your rebuild now and won't look foolish!! I must say I am a Celtics fan FIRST but am now a CAVS fan second.

.. The Lebron story is finally fucking done with

First off, I was so sick of this whole embarassing charade - Im just glad its over with.

Lebron James is a pussy. He had to take the easiest route. At about 9:15 last night he announced he would sign with the Miami Heat. Although, espn would lead you to believe that Maimi is Bethlehem the way they were touting Lebron as a "messiah" with that shameful production. Announced as "The most coveted free agent in the history of the world". Wow.. Maybe since the other great players never abandoned what they started. He turned his back on his fans, his "team", and his home. His character showed through, the same give up attitude us Celtics fans saw in the playoffs 2 years in a row. Lebron James is a quitter.

It keeps being said that Jordan, Bird, Russell, and Magic never did it alone, but they also never went out and begged for other players to help them (at least not as publicly as Lebron did) they won with what their team put together; They took what they were given and carried their teams to championships. And even after trying his hardest to bring Wade and Bosh to Cleveland, "the king" had to acquiesce and become D-wades running mate in Miami. The king? Or is he just Wades bitch now? I view him as the latter. Its Wades team, Wade has a ring, Lebron is now the queen to a proven winner.

The Cavs never quit on Lebron. The fans in Cleveland never quit on Lebron. And Dan Gilbert, the owner, never quit on Lebron. And now Lebron has left them a big steamy pile of crap on their doorstep - That pile would of course be the terrible contracts the team is stuck with after aquiring players that Lebron wanted them to aquire. And even more, he pulls a Brett Favre and leaves them hanging until all the best free agents were signed by other teams, leaving Cleveland with little hope or options. What a guy.. Burn the arena down while you're at it Lebron.

Dan Gilbert has written an open letter to Cavaliers fans and it is absolutely brilliant (and slightly unprofessional. It's an absolute evisceration of LeBron James and you need to read it in its entirety immediately.

It opens with,
"As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. "

And it gets better..
"This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. "

And the hits keep coming,
"You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal."

Get him Dan,
"But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio."

Go read this whole thing, keep in mind that the actual owner of an NBA team wrote this and posted it on the Internet. It's fucking insane.

Well, the owner feels betrayed, the Cavs fans feel betrayed, and probably citizens of Cleveland who dont even care about basketball fee betrayed. But its fine, for Lebron its "The summer of ME", He is the only one that matters - he has no loyalty or dedication to anyone but himself and his ego.

Enjoy South Beach Lebron - the women, the food, the terrible sports fans, the beaches, and being Wades ride along bitch. Im hoping the worst for you - because thats the kind of guy I am.

1. Only a small segment of the population gives a fuck, not everyone is a basketball fan.
2. He isn't even the best, stop pretending, you have to wait for Kobe to retire.
3. He is an idiot, he changes his number because nobody should wear Jordans .. so he picks Bill Russels number?
4. Everything he does is to pump up his ego. Why? He is a millioniare basketball player, shut up and play ball.
5. Jordan never pulled this shit, Kobe (sort of has but not really), Russel, Magic, Bird - None of them pulled this shit. You are a clown.
6. ESPN is a joke, it already sucked, now its just an embarassment.
7. He should stay in Cleveland, and he probably will.
8. Its good to improve your brand, but Ive noticed an anti Lebron sentiment growing lately .. he might not be building his brand as well as he thinks .. and if he leaves Cleveland there could be backlash.
9. All that comes to Lebron now is the biggest burden to win a championship that sports has ever seen. They aren’t making James a bigger star with this big-top, but a bigger target.
10. Hes from Cleveland .. Lets see if that matters to him - Lets see if he remembers where he came from tonight at 9 .. I wont be watching, I hope you aren't either.

Paul Pierce and the Celtics

NICE it is being reported that the Celtics and Pierce have come to a agreement worth 4 years and 61 mil. This does 2 things lowers the money for this year and makes sure the core is together for 2 more years till rebuild time. You got 2 more years on KG's contract you sign Ray for 2 years and Rondo is locked up for I think 2 years. You go into a rebuild year with the last 2 years of Pierce and then lock up Rondo for 4 when his contact is done.
